Tony Lovasco: Death to Karl Marx!™
Some say that Washington is broken. They claim that our government has failed its people, and lost sight of its fundamental responsibilities. The reality of life is that humanity is broken. Government's failures are the failures of its people, who have lost sight of their own responsibilities.
In an era of entitlements, blame, and defeatism, I pledge to be a voice of reason in contrast to the increasingly alarming state of American and global politics.
Each week, I'll be focusing on a variety of issues that plague our nation. Feedback and debate is encouraged, via the comment section under each article, or through the Discussion Forum link on the left of each page.
Join me as I combat the forces of evil in today's political world. Karl Marx may be dead, but his memory remains in the hearts and minds of those who would redistribute our wealth, oppress our liberties, and tell us how to live.
Who cares how many houses John McCain has?
Earlier this week, Barack Obama attacked John McCain for supposedly forgetting how many houses he owned. As usual, you can tell a lot about someone by how they attack their opponents. Read More »
Why I enjoy negative ads...and why I hate the "positive" ones...
Every election, the candidates, the media, and the voters all complain about the proliferation of so-called "negative ads" -- ads that mostly serve to attack the opposing party or candidate, rather than highlight the strengths of the person the ad is meant to represent. Those that are against such ads claim that they highlight the worst parts of politics, and encourage politicians to be dishonest or misleading. Supporters of negative ads call them "contrast ads," and claim that they simply serve to point out the differences between viewpoints. Read More »
Victory for all! The Supreme Court upholds the 2nd Amendment...and strikes down the horrid DC gun ban
A couple of weeks ago, the Supreme Court finally did what it had previously refused to do since its inception: rule that the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. While many expected the court to reverse the incredibly harsh DC ban on handguns, it came as a shock to some that the Supreme Court would actually take such a decisive stance on the 2nd Amendment. Personally, I expected the ruling to be much more narrow in focus, perhaps sidestepping the entire issue of individual gun rights altogether. It would seem that the Supreme Court isn't entirely worthless after all. Read More »
Please forgive the lack of updates...
It's been quite a while since I've posted here, for which I apologize. But rest assured, it has been for good reason. My company, Twisted Lincoln, Inc, has nearly completed its most ambitious project to date: a fully customized and easily deployable PC operating system based on GNU/Linux. The full release information will be forthcoming, at which time you'll see why I've been so busy...
Scott McClellan is a miserable creature... at least according to Bob Dole
The big news this past week was former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's new book. McClellan, who formerly vehemently defended President Bush to the press, now attacks the administration and makes a variety of significant accusations.
While many on both sides of the political spectrum have considered McClellan's book simply an attempt to make some money (and get back at the administration that fired him), there are some in the far left that are already talking of Congressional hearings and new investigations into Bush, Cheney, and others. Luckily, the American people still have Bob Dole to defend them. Read More »
Why hasn't my economic stimulus check arrived yet?
As I recently mentioned, I got my Missouri state tax refund check back a week ago. Shortly after, I was even more shocked to get my Federal refund back. The insanely over-efficient processing aside, this brings up an entirely new question: why haven't I gotten my economic stimulus check yet? Read More »
Why did I get my state tax refund back already?
A few days ago, I got my Missouri state tax refund in the mail. While I was pleased to see it, I was a bit puzzled. I waited until the last possible minute to file (not because I owed any money to the feds, only because I was lazy...), so it has only been ~ 3 weeks since I filed. That's rather fast to be getting a check. I've always wondered why the state always gets me my refund faster than the IRS -- while the state clearly has fewer returns to go through, I would imagine the IRS has much more resources, even proportionally. Perhaps not. Read More »
